I Didn’t Promise to buy Sophia Lamborghini “Burna Boy”

Nigerian music star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has responded to allegations made by socialite Sophia Egbueje, claiming he failed to fulfil a promise to buy her a Lamborghini after an alleged intimate encounter. The controversy began when a leaked audio recording of Sophia’s conversation with a friend surfaced online, in which she accused Burna Boy of having a one-night stand with her and failing to keep his word. In the recording, Sophia claimed the singer had made the promise through a club owner who initially facilitated their meeting, which was delayed. She alleged that after their eventual encounter, Burna Boy failed to deliver on his commitment, leading to her decision to purchase the luxury car herself.

“Burna Boy keeps giving excuses, so I blocked him and paid for the Lamborghini myself,” Sophia was heard saying in the viral audio. The leaked recording quickly sparked a flurry of reactions across Nigerian social media platforms, with many sharing their views on the situation. In response, Burna Boy posted a freestyle video on his Instagram story on Friday afternoon, appearing to address the allegations in a lighthearted manner.

“I no buy Lambo, is that why you are shouting? Where dem dey? I no dey see dem at all,” he sang in the video, dismissing the claims without directly naming Sophia.

The award-winning artist’s response has since drawn mixed reactions from fans and followers, with some seeing it as a playful rebuttal while others demanded a clearer explanation.

Sophia also mentioned feeling betrayed by her friend, Ama Reginald, whom she claimed encouraged her involvement with the singer.

Neither Burna Boy nor his management team have released any official statements beyond the Instagram video.

As the situation continues to unfold, the story remains a trending topic in Nigeria’s entertainment circles.
